IRVINE SAFETY ALERT
Husband of Irvine Commissioner Lauen Johnson-Norris Allegedly Sent Computer Malware to O.C. Journalist.
- Well-known Irvine Blogger Dan Chmielewski said Craig Norris, husband of Irvine City Commissioner Lauren Johnson-Norris, sent him an email that “launched a ransomware/malware screen” on his computer system.
- Norris told Chmielewski it was an accident, but the timing raises questions.
- It came just days after Chmielewski accused Norris of using race-based scare tactics in the failed veterans cemetery campaign.
WARNING: If the Johnson-Norris Family Sends You an Email, DO NOT CLICK ON LINKS
Dan Chmielewski, publisher of the popular blog Liberal OC, said he clicked on a link in an email from Craig Norris – and that’s when the trouble started. He wrote about it in a June 29 article:
“The program launched a ransomware/malware screen; my security software kicked in and shut it down. … What ransomware does is freeze your machine and prevent you from accessing applications or data unless you pay – usually in bitcoin. … I also had one of my clients – a genius when it comes to cybercrime – review Norris’s emails and he confirmed Norris likely was unaware he was sharing malware, but most certainly did send it.”
